Can't help but agree with you there, buddy. There's just something about Daft Punk. I was also very positively surprised with their soundtrack work on Tron!
Contrary to the I5555 sountrack, which was their movie, this was a big box office Hollywood movie and they'd be collaborating with some classical music composer (can't recall his name). So although I didn't expect them to a bad job or anything like that, I wasn't expecting the kick ass soundtrack they actually went and made!! Of course, seeing the movie on a big ass screen in the theatre in 3D with the volume jacked up nice and high added a lot to my first impression of the soundtrack. It fits perfectly and elevated the movie in no small quantity imho.
I have to admit I actually haven't seen the movie yet, I only downloaded the soundtrack. Your description of it makes me wish I would have seen it in the theater when I had the chance! Oh well, maybe if I crank up the speakers at home I can get a similar effect.

ReplyDeleteWhy is that, did you think they wouldn't do a good job? I heard they got a lot of crap before it came out, but I was happy with the result as well.
